New Ears!

This is a big deal for Doodle. She has had friends all around her getting their ears pierced since she was 5. When her cousins started getting theirs done at 9 or so, that made her desire to have it done even worse. But we held true to the "13 or until you are mature enough to handle taking care of your ears as well as the ear rings" statement we had made early on. She stopped asking a couple years ago after watching someone get their ears pierced. She decided maybe she didn't want to do that after all and nothing more was said. Until this month...I had talked to Matt about the fact that she really could not be more responsible if she tried. Her bedroom is always spotless. She never has to be reminded of schoolwork or housework for the most part. She truly is a pretty responsible kid. So we decided that we were going to give her ear rings for her birthday and tell her when she was ready to get her ears pierced, she had our blessing.

Doodle's "old ears" before the mall trip.

Little did I know that she was thinking about the same thing! So, she asked a couple weeks ago if I thought she might be ready. I giggled and told her our plan. So, Saturday, the entire family went out to the mall and she had her big day. She picked out what she wanted and it was over before you could really get too nervous.

Doodle getting the marks put on her ears.
She did look a bit scared with the first one. But she did not flinch at all! What a brave girl!

One down and one to go. Sweet!

Since then, she has done everything she was suppose to do in caring for them. She is very excited to show off her new ears. I think the ears are just part of her excitement though. I think she is feeling pretty excited that her parents think she is mature enough to get her ears pierced younger than mommy did! :) Oh the fun of being 12!

Happy 12th Birthday to Doodle!!!

What a good girl you are,...being so responsible and obedient! God is pleased when you obey and honor your parents. I just heard a sermon on it and it was based on the verses that say things will go well for you, and you will live long on the earth when you honor your parents.

Way to go girl! Cool earrings!

Take Care!
