Menu Plan Monday!

What a precious weekend we had together! I will post more about that topic later this week. For now, I need to focus on the week at hand. Matt will be heading out on his big trip to the Grand Canyon on Sunday after church. So this week will be preparing him for that trip as well as spending much needed time together before he heads out. With that in mind we are keeping things simple with meals:

Monday: (BSF) Matt and girls eat on road, I eat leftovers at home

Tuesday: (dance) White bean chicken chili, chips and salsa

Wednesday: Cheesy Italian chicken, noodles, veggies

Thursday: (dance) turkey burgers, baked beans, salad

Friday: Chicken and noodles, mashed potato, steamed veggies

Saturday: pork chops, rice pilaf, veggies

Sunday: left overs

Menu Plan Monday!

We are definitely trying to get back into the swing of things around here. It feels like it is taking longer than normal to figure out our weekly schedule since school started back up as well as the activities! I feel very scattered still and am finding schedules bring the peace back into my life....see, I am more like Doodle than I realized! That girl is a scheduling queen in the making!

So, I am planning our week ahead with great excitement as Doodle and I will be heading out for our first Mom/Daughter weekend. This is going to be an extremely special time together and it all starts with us getting to see Mary Poppins on stage! So exciting!!!! Here is the plan:
Monday: (BSF for Matt and girls) sandwiches on road
Tuesday: (History Club, Dance) Stove Top Chicken Casserole
Wednesday: (Nothing!!!) Crouton Chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans
Thursday: (Dance, Mary Poppins for Doodle and me) doodle and I eat on way, Matt and Bean eat at home

Menu Plan Monday Returns!

Actually, I don't think it ever really left in the cyber world. But it did disappear for a bit from my blog. In getting back to my scheduled lifestyle, I realize that having this written down helped me a ton. :) So it is back. This week, we start Bible Study Fellowship so things will be busy but good. So here is the plan for this week:

Monday: (BSF night for girls and Matt) They eat on road, I eat at home

Tuesday: (history club/dance) Mexican chicken, rice, salad

Wednesday: Ham, potato, cheese casserole, broccoli, fruit salad

Thursday: (dance then lake house) pizza

Friday: Stir fry and rice

Saturday: Chili with ground turkey

Sunday: potato soup, fresh bread/butter, berry pie

Monday's Menu

I hope this past week has been a precious time with family celebrating Jesus' birth. We certainly have had such sweet memories made and we also spent a little time sharing memories of ones we lost this year, our sweet Gaga Rachel and my dad's best friend, Roger. Those are sweet as well even it they produce some tears from time to time. :) (have I mentioned that I am a weeper?)

Anyway, we also got to see our dear friends, the Perkins and will be heading on Thursday to see our other dear friends, the Stumpf's. The three couples use to be in a small group together back when we had just adopted Emma, the Stumpf's had 4 of their 8 kids and the Perkins were waiting for God to bring them their precious little girls, now 5 and 3. What a road we all have taken since then and it is so neat to see that those friendships that are built in prayer and God's love just become like family. I'll post pictures of our visits later.

As for this week, we are going to do some soups and salads to get back to normal eating versus this gorging that has taken place! Whew! So here is the plan:

Monday: chili, corn bread

Tuesday: taco salad

Wednesday: potato soup and left over ham :)

Thursday: (headed to Stumpf's) not sure what we will take yet....white chocolate mix

Friday: veggie soup, bread

Saturday: white bean chicken chili, corn bread

Sunday: ham -n- beans (maybe by then the ham will be gone!) :)

Mondays Menu!

Can you believe it is Christmas week?! I am so excited! I love this time of year. Now that our house is decorated, filled with the smells of baking, I can relax and enjoy the fruits of our labor. :) I love sitting by the tree with the lights on and music playing in the background and that is what I have been doing! So awesome!

We are blessed to live close to both sides of our family so we spend Christmas Eve with my family. We then have time at home Christmas morning and then head down to Matt's folks later that day to join up with his crew. This year there will be a slight change since Matt's sister is heading to her in-laws for Christmas day. We will be hosting Matt's parents on Christmas and then going to the family get together the next day once his sister is in town. I just did not want his mom sitting alone on Christmas especially this year being the first one since her mom passed away. So I have had fun thinking of what to have for my first Christmas dinner at our house! :)

As I finish up shopping, look towards the family times, I am praying we never lose sight in why we celebrate this season. Taking time to sit at the feet of Jesus is what makes this time so special. So, be sure to do the same and really meet with God during this special time of year. As for food...here is what we will be eating this week:

Monday: baked chicken drumsticks, rice, green beans

Tuesday: White bean chicken chili, corn bread

Wednesday: Crouton chicken, mashed potato, broccoli

Thursday: Christmas dinner with my family!! (not sure what I am taking yet)

Friday: Christmas!
Breakfast: monkey bread, egg casserole, fruit, wassail

Lunch/dinner: Turkey, mashed potato, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole,
lime jello mold, fruit salad

Saturday: Christmas with Miller's! ( not sure what I am taking there yet)

Sunday: left overs!

Monday's Menu!

Ahhhh! Can you hear the sigh of relief coming from our house? The rush is over. We have made it through the Christmas programs and now we get to just sit back and wait on Christmas to arrive. Well, maybe not sit back, but we get to bake the cookies we each enjoy. This year, I am only baking their favorites. No need to bake the others just for the sake of baking more cookies. We did manage to get a tree Sunday after church. It looks so nice and we just love decorating it together. The girls have had fun putting all the nativity scenes around. Have I ever mentioned that I have a nativity scene addiction as well as a book addiction? Well, if not, that is for another post!
This week we are really slowing down. We have our last co-op and BSF on Monday and dance ends Tuesday. The rest of the week, we are home. Did you hear that? Home!!! We will finish school on Friday and then have two weeks off. I am so excited to get the much needed house hold chores done and attack a couple of projects on my to do list during that time. Until then, here is what we will be eating this week:

Monday: (BSF night) Girls and Matt eat on the road.

Tuesday: (dance class) sandwiches on the road, apples, pretzels

Wednesday: ham, cheese broccoli ring, salad

Thursday: Teriyaki chicken, mashed potato, green beans

Friday: boiled supper, corn bread

Saturday: easy chicken pot pie, fruit salad

Sunday: pork roast, cheesy potato, salad, fresh bread

Menu Plan Monday

Well, it is that time of year where we all have a few more holiday parties to attend or cookies bake which can lead to busy schedules all around. We have a ballet dancer in our family who is dancing in a Christmas show at a church this next weekend. That means she has practice every night this week. Ugh! Poor thing is wiped out already so I am showing her some grace with school work this week. She will be doing co-op work and history but no math and spelling to shave off some of her workload and allow for a rest time in the afternoon.

We still don't have a tree and with our schedule this week, I am not sure when we will get it! I am hoping we can pick it up Wednesday night and plan on decorating a bit through the week and finishing up on Sunday as a family. We'll see.

So while trying to keep Christmas all about Christ and yet adding parties and practices to our schedule, I am deciding to keep it simple with food. So here is what the Miller's will be eating this week:

Monday: (BSF night) Girls and Matt eat on the road.

Tuesday: (dance practice/class) sandwiches on the road, apples, pretzels

Wednesday: (dance practice) veggie soup, bread

Thursday: (dance practice/meet friend for dinner) pizza, salad

Friday: (dance performance) taco salad

Saturday: (dance performance/ co-op Christmas party) Girls eat with cousins!

Sunday: (NOTHING!) Pot Roast, carrots, potato and fresh bread....yummo!

Menu Plan Monday

The next two weeks will be a bit busier than normal. Who am I trying to fool here? It is going to be nuts! But at the end, we will be finished with all Christmas type programs the girls are in and we should be able to really have the week or so before Christmas arrives to really concentrate on what it is all about. I hate that hectic feeling during the holidays and refuse to take the focus off of Jesus to just be busy doing all the little things we think are so important to make it what we think it should be. I think it is great to have traditions but if that tradition begins to be the focus and not Jesus Christ, than even good, fun traditions must go. Ok, I'm stepping off the soapbox. haha! Not sure where that came from but I am thinking it might have been one of those things I needed to write so I would remember what we are doing this month. :)
So, coming off a lovely relaxing weekend with family and my dear friend, Lainie, at the lake house...I am ready to take on this week! Here is what we will be enjoying this week:
Monday: (BSF) sandwiches, chips, veggies (quick and easy and get on the road!)
Tuesday: (dance) Wraps for the road, apples, chips (so jealous....aren't ya?!)
Wednesday: (choir practice for Bean) Biscuits and Gravy, fruit salad
Thursday: (girls at grandparents, Date night to Cincy) Dinner at Cincinnati Christian Univ.
Friday: Crockpot lasagna, bread, salad
Saturday: (Bean's play at church) Stovetop chicken and rice casserole, broccoli, oranges
Sunday: (girls go to Yuletide Celebration with my parents) Veggie soup, fresh bread, cottage cheese

Menu Plan Monday

This week is really the same ol' same ol'...nothing new. So we are going to be trying to finish up some loose ends around the house. (at least what we can until we get bookshelves installed) The girls have dance and BSF but the rest of the week, we will be home. It is suppose to be a gorgeous week as well. Yeah! So here is the plan:

Monday: (BSF) left overs (quick and easy and get on the road!)
Tuesday: (dance) PB&J on the road, apples and pretzels (I know you are jealous!)
Wednesday: Baked cream o'celery chicken, buttery noodles, broccoli
Thursday: Pulled BBQ Beef , baked beans, salad
Friday: Individual Beef Wellington's, salad, fruit

Sunday: Baked Spaghetti, bread, salad

Menu Plan Monday

This week is a big deal at our house. The girls are both going to be leaving on Thursday to go to Philadelphia and Hershey, Pennsylvania with their grandparents and their cousins. It is going to be a great trip for all of them. I know we will miss them but it is also so sweet to think of having 4 days with just my husband. Can you believe it?! We have not had a weekend without kids where both of us are free from activities in two years! We use to take our anniversary weekend and go somewhere or at least send the kids somewhere, but that has not happened the past two years due to the girls activities. So this will be a refreshing time to spend together. With that in mind, our menu will be a bit different as we will be going on on dates while the girls are gone. We finally get to use the gift cards I have been saving! God is good! So here is the plan:

Monday: (BSF) sandwich, fruit and veggies on the road
Tuesday: (dance) ham and cheese wraps, fruit and veggies
Wednesday: Baked ziti, salad, green beans, fresh bread
Thursday: (girls leave) Pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, salad
Friday: Date Night!!!
Saturday: Date Night!!
Sunday: Taco salad, nachos and salsa

First week of school down and done well. Yeah! This week will be a repeat of last week and looking forward to our trip to Michigan in two weeks. We will be going camping with a group from church to Mackinac City and then visiting the island. Should be fun! with that in mind, I am trying to use up what we have around here and not add more to the "need to get rid of before we leave" section. However, we do have a special day this week as Tuesday is Doodle's 12th birthday! Can you believe that! So she will be choosing her dinner that night. So here is what the Miller's will be eating:

Monday: chicken and noodles, green beans (the noodles are from an Amish farmer! awesome!)

Tuesday: (Doodle's birthday!!!) homemade chicken pot pie (her request!)

Wednesday: chicken on grill, veggies, bread

Thursday: taco salad, chips -n-salsa

Friday: homemade pizza, salad

Saturday: at the lake: hot dogs, fruit salad, baked beans, mac-n-cheese

Sunday: left overs

Menu

This is our first week of co-op and our school starting. Things will be back to normal a little bit at a time I am sure. I am also trying to get to adjust our schedule to accomplish all that we desire to do this year. Eating healthy is on that list of things we want to do this year, however, eating cheap is too. Since the supplies and books we have purchased lately have caused the checkbook to swell, I have decided to have meals that do not break the bank to help stop the bleeding of the bank account! So here is what the Miller's will be eating:

Monday: (first day co-op and my mom's birthday) Sandwiches on way to party

Tuesday: Mexican Skillet Dinner (sausage, rice, beans, salsa) and chips

Wednesday: chicken and noodles, veggies from friends garden

Thursday: Breakfast for dinner: pancakes and sausage patties

Friday: spaghetti and meatballs, salad

Saturday: Boiled Supper: potato, green beans and polish sausage

Sunday: left overs! :)

Menu for Week!

I am so excited to be looking at the normalcy returning in our schedule this week. I have really felt that this summer has been one big hectic blur! What is amazing is that it is not just our home. It appears all of my friends are dealing with the same blur as well. I really have struggled to get back to home for our meals every night. I miss that time around the table consistently but it is very hard to do that when one of you is at home and the others at Bible Bowl, 4-H, meetings or whatever! Crazy! With that said, here is what the Miller's will be eating this week:

Monday: (mom's meeting, rest at Lake House) on road

Tuesday: BLT's, tomato/cucumber salad, fruit salad

Wednesday: BBQ pork (crock pot), corn on cob, baked beans

Thursday: Taco Salad, chips -n-salsa

Friday: Turkey burgers on grill, veggies on grill, Parmesan pasta

Saturday: meatball subs, sweet potato fries (something new!), steamed veggies

Sunday: left overs! :)

Monday's Menu

How sweet to say that this week we have nothing big going on! Yeah! It is a breath of fresh air around here to be able to just go with the flow for the week and enjoy those fun, "lazy" days of summer. I'm not sure how lazy our days will be as we have some chores to tackle but nothing that will take our entire focus for the week. Should be a good week. Here is what the Miller crew will be eating:

Monday: breakfast for dinner: waffles, bacon and eggs

Tuesday: chicken on grill, corn on cob, fresh green beans, tomato/cucumber salad

Wednesday: baked ziti , salad, fresh garlic bread

Thursday: taco salad, chips and salsa, fresh guacamole

Friday: headed to our friends...Perkins! Yeah!

Saturday: turkey burgers, grilled veggies, sweet potato fries

Sunday: pulled pork (crock pot), baked beans, Cole slaw

Monday's Menu!

It has been ages since I have posted our menu for the week. I think I forgot about it! Go figure! Anyway, we are done with 4-H and Bible Bowl so life can slow down for a few weeks before we start back to our school schedule. Should be a fun week since Bean turns 9 on Friday! Woohoo! She is very excited. So here is what the Miller crew will be eating this week:

Monday: Turkey burgers, cottage cheese, carrots, bing cherries

Tuesday: Spaghetti, salad, bread/olive oil dip

Wednesday: Mexican Skillet dinner (rice, sausage, salsa, beans and cheese) guacamole, salsa, chips

Thursday: Hot dogs, beans, veggies

Friday: (Bean's birthday!!!) Ribs, corn on cob, salad, cake, ice cream

Saturday: hopefully at lake...cook out on grill

Menu for the week

Well, I finally have my act together enough this week to post our menu. :) We have started having nights for the girls to cook dinner each week and so far it is such a blessing. I had not given over the reigns fully yet until my mom reminded me that I was making dinner on my own at Doodle's age. Helps to have someone remind you gently just how old your kids really are! :) So here is the plan:

Monday: Turkey burgers, salad, baked beans

Tuesday: Taco Salad, salsa & chips (Bean's cooking)

Wednesday: Crouton Chicken, steamed veggies, rice (Doodle's cooking)

Thursday: (dance and Bible Bowl) Crockpot lasagna, salad, bread

Friday: Bible Bowl Tournament in Cincinnati...eat out

Saturday: on road...eat out

Sunday: Father's Day!!! Cook out with family

Menu for the week

This week is going to be tough getting back to all the "normal" activities after having two or three weeks off. So my plan is use the crock-pot often or make it quick. This should be our last week of all activities due to Bean's choir musical being on Sunday. No more choir after that. Slowly everything will dwindle out and our summer life begins. :) Yeah! Here's the plan:

Monday:
grab what you can (BSF night)

Tuesday: crockpot lasagna, salad and bread (ballet)

Wednesday: taco salad, chips-n-salsa (choir)

Thursday: veggie soup, homemade bread (Bible Bowl)

Friday: Make your own pizza! (Doodle dance at retirement home)

Saturday: chicken on the barbie, rice and veggies (NOTHING TO DO!!!)

Sunday: ribs, baked beans, corn on cob, salad (Bean's musical at church)

Monday Menu Plan

This week we are in Florida with my family. So we will be going out more than usual but we also will be having family meals as well. So here is the "plan":

Monday: Pulled beef sandwiches, mac-n-cheese, beans, fruit

Tuesday: Out

Wednesday: Taco Salad

Thursday: Out

Friday: Ham Potato Casserole, broccoli, fruit

That is all I know since we are heading home on Saturday! See you all then!

Monday, March 23, 2009

This week will be crazy as we prepare to leave for Florida for Spring Break with my entire family. It will be a wonderful time, just trying to get everything done before we head out will be the challenge. Normally, I don't feel this pressure but I was away this weekend for a mom's retreat at the lake house and did not do my usual prep for the week. So feeling a bit swamped but know that God is in control and it will all work out. With that said, we are eating what we have in the pantry and frig this week to make life easier but also to clean them out before we head out! :)
So here is our gourmet menu:

Monday: (co-op, BSF) Beef stew, cottage cheese, bread

Tuesday: (ballet) Spaghetti, salad and bread

Wednesday: (choir) Breakfast for Dinner! French Toast, eggs, bacon

Thursday:(Bible Bowl) Mexican Skillet: rice, beans, corn, sausage

Friday: on the road!!!

I will have to plan next week's meals soon so I know what we need to take with us and what to buy there....but not right now. :)
